Refurbished Dell processor heatsinks for PowerEdge rack servers - including standard and performance heatsinks for PowerEdge R640, R740, R630, R730, R620, and R720 platforms. Single-socket and dual-socket heatsink variants available. 

Dell PowerEdge servers require the correct heatsink for each processor socket. A single-socket R640 configured with one CPU ships with one heatsink. When adding a second processor - to increase core count and memory channel capacity for VM-dense workloads - the second socket requires its own heatsink or the server will not complete POST. This is a common omission in refurbished server configurations sourced from secondary market suppliers.

Dell distinguishes between standard heatsinks and performance heatsinks based on processor TDP. Standard heatsinks (typically marked as "1U Standard" or "Low Profile") are rated for Intel Xeon Gold processors up to a specified TDP threshold. High-performance heatsinks are required for Intel Xeon Platinum 8100 and 8200 series processors, which exceed the thermal dissipation capacity of the standard heatsink. Using a standard heatsink with a high-TDP processor causes thermal throttling under sustained load - a problem that may not be immediately obvious but manifests as reduced throughput and higher-than-expected CPU temperatures in iDRAC thermal monitoring.
